Baler juniors received free donuts at break on Friday, Oct. 13 for surpassing the 60 percent participation rate in National School Lunch Program sign-ups. The sophomore class had the highest participation rate in the school, and will receive pizza on Friday, Oct. 20

Artists' renderings highlight the facility improvements that will take place on campus thanks to the community's support of bond Measures G and U and the Board of Trustees' approval. Some of the work is underway and more is planned over the next few years, as the school modernizes, expands and upgrades facilities to benefit academics and athletics. Cal SOAP's Cash for College event on Oct. 10, in conjunction with SBHS counselors, attracted more than 800 parents and students for the two-hour event. During that time, 357 Dream Act and FAFSA applications were completed, bringing to 54 percent the amount of the senior class that has submitted financial aid paperwork.
Next week is Fall Homecoming Week, which will include daily dress-up days, the annual Homecoming Parade through downtown Hollister on the special schedule Thursday (Oct. 19) and a special rally schedule Friday, Oct. 20 for the Homecoming Rally. The Homecoming football game will be Friday and the dance will be Saturday, Oct. 20.
Dress up days are as follows:
Monday: Hawaiian Day
Tuesday: Musical Decades Day
Wednesday: College Day
Thursday: Mathletes vs. Athletes (parade from 2-3 p.m.)
Friday: Baler Spirit and Hat Day (rally in the morning)
The 143 Baler freshmen participating in Fall sports have an average GPA of 3.38 and none are ineligible. Eleven have a 4.0.
